The Society of British Interior Design

The Society of British Interior Design (SBID) has been formed in response to what it says has been a dumbing down of the sector in recent years by self-proclaimed media interior design ‘gurus’. With almost 200 members already signed up, the Society will host an official inauguration in the autumn. SBID Vice President Simon Cavelle, ex-board member of the Federation of Interior Architects and Designers, believes the show’s synergy with the Society makes it an ideal platform to introduce their aims and message. “The profession has inherited a frivolous image over the last decade,” added Simon, “and one that undermines the intellectual and practical substance and serious benefits good design brings to all sectors of society.”
